Description: This course focuses on the behavioral aspect of trauma, and the function of behaviors serve as either protective mechanisms or ways children get their needs met. Participants learn a three-sequence model for understanding behavior that includes the child’s perceptual lens, the need being met, and the ability to recover. Trauma triggers are also defined and discussed as an important piece of understanding what underlies a child’s behavior. This training is approved for 2 hours of foster parent training credit.
