Description: Sensory processing is the everyday neurological procedure of organizing the information we take in from our bodies and the world around us for use in daily life. There are 7 basic senses: Hearing, Taste, Smell, Sight, Touch, Movement/Vestibular, Body Position/Proprioceptive. How the brain processes sensory information can greatly impact interaction with the environment, the ability to learn, complete everyday activities, and behave appropriately. All babies are born with reflexes that assist in development. As the child develops, the reflexes should be integrated. However, if they don’t, the reflex can negatively impact physical and emotional development later in life. This class will explore 4 sensory preference categories and how sensory preferences impact behavior, social interaction, and the ability to learn and play.
**This qualifies for Group Credit through HHS (like in-person classes)
