Description: This workshop dispels myths of human trafficking and provides insights into the reality of human trafficking. Participants will gain a new understanding of the intersection of human trafficking and foster care. Participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of force, fraud, coercion and the grooming process. Participants will gain an understanding of vulnerabilities of youth in foster care and the way traffickers utilize these vulnerabilities to exploit individuals. This course will begin to explore the use of social media and gaming in targeting and grooming individuals for trafficking. This course is designed to equip participant with the knowledge to identify human trafficking before it begins and empower them to take steps to intervene and report the behavior. It will also provide a basis to begin a conversation with youth about the dangers of trafficking and safeguarding practices.

**This qualifies for Group Credit through HHS (like in-person classes)

Virtual Participant Expectations
To ensure a positive and productive experience, please review the following expectations:  

  1. Attendance:
    1. Please attend on time and stay for the full duration. Notify us in advance if you’re unable to attend.
    2. Each participant needs to register individually, however those in the same household can be on the training using one device.
    3. Both individuals need to verbally/visually check in and out when attendance is taken. Also, BOTH individuals need to be visible via the camera throughout the training.
  2. Engagement:
    1. Actively participate in discussions and activities. Log on prepared and ready to contribute.
    2. Keep your camera ON. If you are unable to have your camera on, we expect that you will be participating in the chat. We will be monitoring who does/does not have their camera on and who is/is not participating throughout the training.
    3. Please have supervision available for children so you can actively participate in this training as you would an in-person training.
  3. Professional Conduct: Treat trainers and fellow participants with respect. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
  4. Confidentiality: Respect the confidentiality of personal or sensitive information shared during the training.
  5. Inclusivity:
    1. Contribute to a welcoming, non-discriminatory environment. Respect diverse identities and perspectives.
