Description: This training is designed to provide essential knowledge and practical tools for family members, friends, and caregivers who are supporting someone affected by addiction. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of addiction as a disease, including its physical, psychological, and behavioral aspects. The course explores the complexities of recovery, common challenges faced during the recovery process, and strategies for offering effective support while maintaining healthy boundaries. This course is ideal for anyone seeking to enhance their knowledge and understanding of addiction and its impact, particularly those directly involved in the care and support of individuals affected by addiction.
**This qualifies for Group Credit through HHS (like in-person classes)
Virtual Participant Expectations
To ensure a positive and productive experience, please review the following expectations:
- Attendance:
- Please attend on time and stay for the full duration. Notify us in advance if you’re unable to attend.
- Each participant needs to register individually, however those in the same household can be on the training using one device.
- Both individuals need to verbally/visually check in and out when attendance is taken. Also, BOTH individuals need to be visible via the camera throughout the training.
- Engagement:
- Actively participate in discussions and activities. Log on prepared and ready to contribute.
- Keep your camera ON. If you are unable to have your camera on, we expect that you will be participating in the chat. We will be monitoring who does/does not have their camera on and who is/is not participating throughout the training.
- Please have supervision available for children so you can actively participate in this training as you would an in-person training.
- Professional Conduct: Treat trainers and fellow participants with respect. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
- Confidentiality: Respect the confidentiality of personal or sensitive information shared during the training.
- Inclusivity:
- Contribute to a welcoming, non-discriminatory environment. Respect diverse identities and perspectives.
