Descriptions:

Parenting in the Age of Screens, Social Media and Gaming: Parents will learn important information about brain development during the tween and teen years. Understanding the specific parts of tweens’ and teens’ brains that are growing most rapidly in these years will help parents learn how to communicate with their kids. This curriculum offers guidance on when tweens and teens will most welcome a parent’s interventions, how to step into that process with them, and how to aid their building of intelligence and gaining experiences that will prepare them for adulthood.

Joys and Challenges of Kinship Care: Millions of grandparents are raising their grandchildren. Approximately 30-35% of children in foster care are living with extended family, and 1 in every 11 children in the US will spend some time in kinship care. While it shares many issues and joys with traditional adoption or foster care, kinship care has several unique challenges and rewards. Understanding the changing relationships in kinship care and the complicated emotions involved for all parties can help caregivers support the children in their care. We also provide a list of tips to help parents raise children in kinship care.

**This qualifies for Group Credit through HHS (like in-person classes)

***Note: If you are registering two people, you will need to register each person individually with separate emails. You need to be interactive in this virtual training like you would an in-person training. If your children need supervision, we suggest having other supervision for children so you can actively participate in this training as you would an in-person training.
