Every child deserves a permanent connection to a caring adult.

In partnership with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), we help raise awareness for Iowa children waiting to be adopted from foster care. All the children on this page are legally eligible for adoption (meaning the parental rights of the child’s parents have been terminated) and their HHS caseworkers are looking for potential adoptive homes.

People often ask if these are the only Iowa children waiting to be adopted from foster care. The answer is no—however, many children available for adoption from foster care in Iowa already have a home identified, often with relatives or their foster family. The children here, for various reasons, are still waiting for an adoptive family.
